Moments that make your day!

On Monday, I was delivering Day 2 of a First Aid at Work course when Amy, one of my delegates showed me a video she had made with her children.

Amy had spent the weekend teaching her children what she had learnt on Day 1 of my course and the video was of her 3 children aged 5, 9 and 11 competently carrying out the DRAB survey, checking for danger, airways and breathing and ringing 999 for help. The children then demonstrated how to put each other into the recovery position.

It was a really funny clip as the younger children were not very gentle when checking an airway and leaping over each other once they were in recovered is not generally advised, however they were absolutely brilliant at demonstrating what their Mum had taught them, showing that not only was Amy an excellent student but that she had recognised the importance of being prepared and passing on a life skill that her children may need one day. She said that they had loads of fun learning how to do it as well so it was a win win!

First Aid is a life skill that we should all have and teaching children these important skills at an early age is a fabulous thing to do.
