The HSE strongly recommends that first-aiders undertake annual refresher training during any three-year certification period. Although not mandatory, this will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and help with “skill fade”. It will also ensure first aiders are kept up to date with any changes to first-aid procedures.

Over a half day period, Learners will leave with a renewed confidence having had the opportunity to practise essential first aid procedures, including:

• Managing an unresponsive casualty
• Recovery position
• CPR and Automated External Defibrillation
• Choking and more
